Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art Announces “A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur” – Travel and Tour World

The historic lake city of Udaipur in northwestern India was once part of the court of Mewar and a flourishing arts center. Join us for a two-part presentation exploring the cultural heritage of this unique place. Padmaja Kumari Parmar, daughter of the House of Mewar, will discuss “living heritage” in Udaipur. Dipti Khera, Associate Professor of Art History at New York University, will then explore how wide-ranging artistic representations of place from Udaipur reflect major aesthetic, intellectual, and political shifts in India’s long eighteenth century.
